Effects of the war

This website is about the Spanish-American War.  In this website you will find what caused the war, how it affected our homefront, and the effects that it made.  This project was given to an AP History class as a final exam, and is linked to student webpages that talk about other wars in history, like the Revolutionary War, and World War 1.

During the Spanish-American War, President William McKinley was assasinated on September 6, 1901.  He was shot by Leon Czolgosz.  Before this, he achieved a great deal during the war.  At first he declared American neutrality at the start of the war, but decided to enter the war when the U.S Battleship Maine was bombed.  Because McKinley got the U.S involved in the war, he made it able for the U.S. to become the new Dominant Power, and take control of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines.  Theodore Roosevelt became President when McKinley was assasinated.  He was know in the Spanish-American War, for his involvment with the Rough Riders.  But before his involvment with the Rough Riders, he was elected Assistant Secretarty of the Navy.
